Dr. Zero Zero Amarno
Dr. Zero Zero AmarNo is a non-alcoholic Italian amaro made with a complex blend of botanicals including sage, wormwood, Chinese rhubarb, quassia, quinine and orange. Rich and bittersweet, it layers earthy herbs and bright citrus with a deep, lingering bitterness that feels firmly rooted in the Italian amaro tradition.
Made in Italy and designed as a digestivo, AmarNo is equally comfortable sipped slowly after dinner or used to bring bitter, herbal depth to cocktails. Unlike a dealcoholized spirit, it is built from the beginning as a non-alcoholic amaro and contains less than 0.5% ABV.
Why We Love It
Amaro is all about complexity, and AmarNo doesn't shy away from bitterness. Wormwood, quassia and quinine give it backbone, while orange and sage keep the profile aromatic and balanced. It's one of those bottles that can completely change a cocktail with a relatively small pour.
We also love that it embraces the Italian after-dinner ritual. Pour it over ice when you want something dark, herbal and contemplative, or use it anywhere a cocktail could benefit from a bitter edge.
Try It With
For the simplest serve, pour 2 oz AmarNo over a large cube and finish with an orange peel. Add a splash of sparkling water or tonic if you'd like to open up the botanicals.
For a Negroni-style cocktail, combine 1 oz AmarNo, 1 oz non-alcoholic bitter aperitivo and 1 oz non-alcoholic gin. Stir with ice, strain over a large cube and finish with an orange peel. Dr. Zero Zero also pairs AmarNo with espresso and with ginger beer and cold brew, which gives you some surprisingly fun territory to explore.
Pair it with: Dark chocolate sea-salt truffles, affogato, orange-and-fennel biscotti, rosemary roasted nuts, Parmesan with fig jam, olive-oil cake, espresso tiramisu, or a salty little plate of potato chips and aged pecorino.
