What Is Ghia Original Aperitif?

Ghia Original is a bright, gently bitter non-alcoholic apéritif built around botanicals, citrus, and fruit — not trying to imitate a traditional spirit, but creating something entirely its own. Gentian root provides a pleasant bitter backbone, while yuzu, orange, lemon balm, elderflower, rosemary, ginger, and rhubarb bring layers of citrus, herbs, and subtle florals. White grape, plum, and date soften the edges without making it overly sweet.

Lighter in body than many red and orange apéritifs, Ghia has a freshness that makes it particularly easy to drink. Citrus comes through first, followed by gentle bitterness and a slightly savory, herbaceous finish. Refreshing rather than heavy, and especially good when you want an apéritif with complexity but not a lot of weight.

Why We Love It

Ghia has its own personality. It's lighter and more delicate than many of the apéritifs we carry, with enough gentian bitterness to keep it interesting but plenty of bright citrus and herbs to keep it fresh.

We also love how versatile it is. It doesn't overpower everything you put with it, so you can make a beautifully simple spritz or use it as the bitter, botanical layer in a more complex cocktail. It's a particularly good choice for someone who likes the idea of an apéritif but doesn't want something intensely bitter.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Yuzu, orange peel, elderflower, and fresh herbs
  • Palate: Bright citrus, gentle gentian bitterness, rosemary, and a hint of ginger warmth
  • Finish: Savory, herbaceous, and clean with lingering floral notes

How to Drink Ghia

Keep it beautifully simple: Ghia over ice with sparkling water and an orange or grapefruit twist. Also lovely with tonic, ginger beer, or a dry sparkling non-alcoholic wine.

Cheeky & Dry Signature Serve — Ghia Grapefruit Spritz: 1½ oz Ghia, 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 2 oz sparkling water, and 2 dashes All The Bitter Orange Bitters. Build over ice and finish with a grapefruit peel.

Food Pairings

Especially good with Castelvetrano olives, crispy artichokes with lemon aioli, whipped feta with roasted tomatoes, grilled halloumi with citrus, spicy tuna crudo, or salty potato chips with crème fraîche and chives.
