Bacanha Basil Syrup

Bacanha Brut Basil is an organic basil syrup with a fresh, distinctly herbal character and a lightly peppery aroma. The basil is assertive rather than merely decorative, bringing that green, aromatic quality of fresh basil into a concentrated syrup that works beautifully with citrus, berries and sparkling drinks.

Made in France from organic pure cane sugar, water, natural basil flavor and citric acid, it contains no added colorants or preservatives. Each 400ml bottle makes approximately 20 drinks, so a little goes a surprisingly long way.

Why We Love It

Basil is one of those ingredients that can completely change a drink, but keeping fresh basil behind the bar isn't always particularly convenient. This gives you that savory, garden-fresh character in a bottle. We especially like that it isn't trying to be another fruit syrup: it's herbal, slightly peppery and an easy way to make a very simple drink considerably more interesting.

Try It With

Basil Lemonade: add ¾ oz Bacanha Brut Basil and ½ oz fresh lemon juice to a glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling water and stir. Bacanha uses essentially this combination in its own Basil Limo recipe, and simplicity suits this syrup particularly well.

Especially good with strawberries, watermelon, citrus, chèvre, burrata, tomatoes or anything with a fresh Mediterranean bent.
