Giffard Aperitif Bitter is a non-alcoholic French apéritif with the bright citrus, assertive bitterness, and vivid red color you want for a classic bitter-style cocktail. Fresh blood orange and grapefruit come through first, followed by gentian, berries, and a pronounced quinine bitterness that gives it plenty of structure. It has enough concentration to hold its own once you add sparkling wine, soda, or other ingredients — making it particularly useful when you want that familiar bitter-orange backbone in a non-alcoholic cocktail. Giffard Aperitif Bitter contains less than 0.5% ABV.

Why We Love It

Giffard has been making liqueurs in France since 1885, and they know how to build concentrated flavor for cocktails. Aperitif Bitter feels very much like a bartender's bottle: bright, bitter, and designed to still taste like something once it's mixed. We especially like the balance of blood orange and grapefruit against the quinine bitterness — it's more assertive than Ghia and works beautifully when you want a true bitter apéritif character rather than something softer and more botanical.

How to Drink Giffard Aperitif Bitter

For an easy spritz, pour over ice with a dry non-alcoholic sparkling wine and a splash of sparkling water, then finish with an orange or grapefruit slice.

Cheeky & Dry Signature Serve — Bitter Grapefruit Spritz: 1½ oz Giffard Aperitif Bitter, 1 oz Giffard Grapefruit, 2½ oz dry non-alcoholic sparkling wine, and a splash of sparkling water. Build over plenty of ice and garnish with grapefruit.

Pair it with: marinated Castelvetrano olives, crispy prosciutto-style mushroom flatbread, spicy tomato focaccia, fried artichokes with lemon, grilled radicchio with Parmesan, or salty Parmesan-rosemary crackers. Especially good with food that is spicy, salty, smoky, bitter, fatty, or citrusy.

Tasting Notes
