Missing Thorn Bordeaux Blend is a non-alcoholic red wine crafted in Napa by acclaimed winemaker Aaron Pott and vintner Stephanie Honig. Deep ruby in the glass, it leads with cranberry and pomegranate before moving into blackberry, black cherry, and cassis, with tobacco, cedar, subtle vanilla, and mocha adding a darker, more savory dimension. Ripe tannins give it welcome structure, while the finish has enough depth and grip to keep the fruit from taking over. The wine begins as fully fermented wine before the alcohol is gently removed through low-temperature vacuum distillation, then Missing Thorn thoughtfully rebuilds the body and texture that can be lost during dealcoholization.
Why We Love It
There’s intention behind this wine, and you can taste it. Missing Thorn understands that a convincing non-alcoholic red needs more than dark fruit; it needs tannin, structure, texture, and those savory notes that make you want another sip with dinner. We love the cedar, tobacco, and mocha running underneath the fruit and the way the tannins give the wine a more substantial presence in the glass. Serve it slightly cool, around cellar temperature, and give it a few minutes to open up.
Set the table for: rosemary-crusted lamb with white beans, grilled steak with shallot butter, porcini and Parmesan risotto, eggplant involtini with tomato and pecorino, or an aged blue cheese with roasted figs and walnuts.
